Interview by Jiwa

[01] Hello my friend Khrzyszt Ezpannto. How are you today? First of all, can you introduce a little bit about yourself personally, and maybe a few things about your regular life?

Ezpannto: Hi Jiwa, everything is fine. Well I am a kind of an antisocial man, I don't get out to parties or that kind of stuff, I rather prefer to be alone, since I was a child I was always in a kind of different world.

[02] When did you first recognize and fall in love with Noise, HNW, Drone, and other experimental music / sound arts that you like?

Ezpannto: I got stuck specially into HNW in 1998, in the early 90's I usually listened to the "Japanoise" stuff, but in 1998 I discovered The Rita's Crusty Etruscans and Dead Body Love's Low-Fi Power Carnage and Macronympha's Intensive Care releases and it took me to one step beyond from noise done those days, I grew old listening to brutal music (metal, hardcore, etc.) but when I listened to HNW I was like: what the hell is this?? And it was until 2005 that I was totally immerse into PE/HN/HNW.

[03] Now we will start talking about NAUZEA NEGRA. When did you start this project, and what were the ideas and concepts you set for it? Why has it been named Nauzea Negra?

Ezpannto: I started NAUZEA NEGRA in 2018 and it is obviously to say that my influences were/are/will be THE RITA, DEAD BODY LOVE, MACRONYMPHA, THE CHERRY POINT, SKIN GRAFT, ATRAX MORGUE. My ideas to create my sounds are into the Mental Health problems, some sounds from Nature like Volcanos in eruption and it's Lava, Waves of a furious Sea, Wood being consumed by Fire, Trains, and last but not least, some repulsion toward some parts of society. The name NAUZEA NEGRA comes from J. P. Sartre's book The Nausea.

[04] In more detail, please describe the most accurate definition for the works & nuances of sound in Nauzea Negra? What has often influenced or inspired you in producing each track / album?

Ezpannto: Well, as I said before; my sounds are focused on the Mental Health / Illness problems (I myself suffer from Insomnia and Anxiety), so most of my sounds are made when I am into a mental crisis and making noise is how I am getting along with my head problems. Sometimes I get tired of the musical mainstream and instead of listening to what it is on the radio I make my noise, my slogan: NAUZEA NEGRA is the Deconstruction of Music to it's Raw and Primitive Roots: NOISE!.

[05] You have produced hundreds of workpieces and releases for Nauzea Negra and that is indeed an amazing commitment. How can you do it and have a lot of time & energy for it?

Ezpannto: Well yeah, I have produced a lot of stuff with my projects and that's the result from several sleepless nights, sometimes there is no energy anymore; but it is worst to battle your thoughts!

[06] What are some of your best and favorite releases from Nauzea Negra?

Ezpannto: Kind of difficult question, since all I have made with my projects is my favorite stuff!

[07] I noticed you also run another project called EZPANNTO NEGRO. Tell us something about it and how it differs from Nauzea Negra?

Ezpannto: EZPANNTO NEGRO is more focused on ambient, drone and the experimental side. I want to make or even better, to tell histories of ESPANTO (Terror/ Fright) that exist locally here in Mexico; terror tales like "La Llorona", "El Charro Negro", etc. So EZPANNTO NEGRO is more toward Ambient Terror Tales with that harsh noise in it, in fact EZPANNTO NEGRO is a guy who is wandering around the universe, and he came to Earth and discovered these Terror Tales.

[08] What is on your current playlist?

Ezpannto: Now listening to: The Rita - Thousands of Dead Gods, Skin Graft - Subterrane, Dead Door Unit - Bloated, Saint Elisabeth - Undoer of Knots and Mallard Theory / Slacking split.

[09] What are your thoughts on the present Noise / Experimental music movement, and what do you hope for this scene in the future?

Ezpannto: The Noise movement nowadays is a little weak, not because of lack of projects, there are great projects out there, but Selfishness is impregnating the "scene" and I hope in a near future this selfishness get wipe out of the scene for good!

[10] Thank you for your great responses to this interview. For this final part I invite you to say whatever you want?

Ezpannto: Thank you very much Jiwa for this interesting interview, I really appreciate your support to my projects NAUZEA NEGRA and EZPANNTO NEGRO. Stay Noisy!
