Biography - BUDRUM

Budrum is a solo Dungeon Synth/Dark Ambient project from Nothern Greece. The idea of its creation, started during the composition of a Dungeon Synth track for a black metal band when there were thoughts of expanding the existing material.

Its influences lie mostly in Old School Dungeon Synth of the 90s (like Depressive Silence, Lord Wolf, Cedamus etc) but also Greek bands like Bacchia Neraida (huge respect), Erevos, Cernunnos, Nergal etc. Greece has an enormous tradition and contribution in the genre and one can discover real treasures. 

The themes that inspire Budrum’s music are mostly medieval stories and traditions, Ancient Greek and Scandinavian mythology and sounds of the nature and the wider environment. 

   

The word “Budrum” is a special pronounce of a Greek idiom and means “Dungeon”. The official word in Greek is “Budrumi”. Actually, the word is a loan from the Ottoman Turkish word: “Bodrum”, which also means “Dungeon”.  

On October 31 of 2024, Budrum released its first demo on bandcamp called “Unsung Myths” which contains 4 tracks. The whole work is completely DIY and produced at home. Right now, many ideas are being procedured and may they lead to a full album in the future. The demo is going to be released in cassette format by the label: “Dale of Shadows” in 2025.
